The Bristol workshop of Amalgam Fine Model cars primarily deals with the fulfillment of orders and repair of customers models that have been sent to us for rejuvenation.
Here we can see a damaged Ferrari California sent to us for repair from a customer. The front wing had suffered a bump. This was successfully repaired much like an auto-body shop would – filling, sanding and painting.

In response to an invitation from McLaren to show our models in the F1 Paddock area at Goodwood Festival of Speed we created an elegant new fabric roof for our glass display cabinet. Stacked with an example of every McLaren model we have made over the last three years and crowned by the Papaya Orange F1 LM, the cabinet sucked in virtually every passerby. By Sunday evening what had been lush grass around the display had been reduced to a fine dust by the thousands of people who stopped to admire the models!

While delivering Gordon Murray’s model of the F1 LM to the McLaren Technology Centre we took a moment to put the model in front of the real car on display there.

Our models were on display at Aston Martin and Ferrari stands as well as Bugatti at the Geneva show. This shot shows a very special completely silver plated model of the Grand Sport displayed between two more conventionally finished models of the Veyron Centenaire and 16.4 Grand Sport with the real cars in the foreground. The Silver Grand Sport model is now on display at the Bugatti HQ in Molsheim and is for sale at €7,000 euros.

This is a real 1990 Ferrari F1 car mounted on a wall in the Museum of Modern Art in New York City.
Amalgam builds museum quality models….we plan to develop a gallery exhibit of Ferrari models in 2010, possibly in alliance with auction house Philips de Pury.

In April at Villa d’Este on Lake Como Bugatti celebrated the famous marque’s 100th year with a quartet of special edition Centenaire Veyrons. The four one-offs bare historic Type 35 race colours, each honoring a driver from Bugatti’s glory days. To accompany the real cars Amalgam produced four perfect replicas at 1/8th scale. The models looked fantastic beside the real cars but sadly the weather rather dampened everyone’s spirits!
The presentation at Villa d’Este was the second of many celebrations which Bugatti has lined up to celebrate its centenary this year, following the Bleu Centenaire edition presented at Geneva and ahead of Pebble Beach in August. The grand finale will be in Molsheim on September the 12th.

At the Toyota Gallery at 79, avenue des Champs-Elysees in Paris, each day a professional modeller demonstrates how car designers sculpt preliminary ideas from clay. Very cool…

Also be sure to check out the Toyota F1 simulator.
